"Passion in Preserving Our Norwegian Heritage "

Note: The monthly meeting is usually held the Third Thursday (some exceptions) of the Month at 7:00 PM at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Underwood Hall, 7000 Creedmoor Road Raleigh. This is at the corner of Creedmoor Road and Sawmill Road about half-way between I-540 and Crabtree Valley Mall. The meetings usually have a a short business meeting followed by a presentation on a Norwegian topic and of course food/snacks with a Norwegian theme. The board meeting is held the first Thursday of the month via conference call. During the summer we will not hold regular meetings in July or August but may have a picnic or an outing. May 6th - Board Meeting Conference Call - 7:00 PM.

May 15th - Syttende Mai Celebration with Friends of Scandinavia - 10:30 AM - ? in Apex Community Park . The celebration will feature the Spelmanslag and the Scandancers - Spelmanslag will provide the music and fiddlers for the parade and the Scandancers will perform Norwegian folk dances in costumes. We will also be entertained by one other invited guest, Torwaldr Torgarson, who will entertain us
with comedic Viking stories and songs. Torwaldr’s real name is Robert Koepke, who is the creator of his own material and comes to us with rave reviews from other Norwegian groups around the country. Learn more about him . Please bring a dish or dessert to serve six or eight, and ladies please wear your bunads if you own one.  To reach Apex Park go down US 64 to Laura Duncan Rd. and turn right (if coming from the east).  Go about ½ mile to the park entrance. May 20th - Lodge Meeting - 7:00 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Underwood Hall. We will be given a genealogy presentation by Ann Myhre on the Myhre Norwegian ancestors.

May 22nd - Genealogy Workshop - 10:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. We will have Blaine Hedberg, Naeseth Chair for Research & Publication, Norwegian American Genealogical Center & Naeseth Library as the speaker and the leader of the workshop. We will access the genealogy Internet files to research your family's Norwegian ancestory, so please bring a laptop (if you can) and all the pertinent family history that you have.
